  3. Lynn-Arthur Associates, Inc. (LAA) announces its Real-Time Rating System
  4. (RTRS) for the A.T.& T. 5ESS(R) telephone switch. The RTRS prices
  5. telephone services for coin phone calls, credit card calls, collect
  6. calls, and third party calls handled by telephone operators. It also
  7. prices person-to-person and station calls.

  9. The RTRS has already been delivered to two telephone companies,
  10. Minnesota Equal Access Network Services (Plymouth, MN) and Brazoria
  11. Telephone Company (Brazoria, TX). Minnesota Equal Access is a network
  12. services company owned by more than sixty small telephone companies in
  13. Minnesota. Brazoria Telephone Company is a small family-run company
  14. located an hour's drive from Houston, TX.

  16. The RTRS is implemented in Objective-C in the NextStep operating system
  17. using distributed objects. It is available to run on Intel and Hewlett-
  18. Packard computers. The RTRS is a high-demand mission-critical applica-
  19. tion delivered on two redundant computer systems. The A.T.& T. 5ESS(R)
  20. switch is connected to the RTRS over two X.25 digital links on which
  21. transaction loads are shared. Each data link is connected to a separate
  22. computer system.

  24. LAA delivers the RTRS as a turn-key solution of hardware, software,
  25. tariff database, training, and installation support. Delivery takes
  26. approximately six weeks from contract signing.

  28. RTRS consists of four major software components. Three of these
  29. components run on NextStep and the fourth runs in the DOS/Windows
  30. environment.

  32. 1. The "Real-Time Rating" component receives all the rating transactions
  33. from the 5ESS switch, processes them, and answer the transactions. All
  34. knowledge of the 5ESS switch is within.
  35.  
  36. 2. The "TeleRate(tm) Rating" component performs all pricing of telephone
  37. services. All knowledge of telephone services, their costs, and the
  38. database of tariffs is within.
  39.  
  40. 3. The "RTRS Control" component is an application which communicates
  41. with the real-time process to stop, start, monitor, and modify the
  42. mission-critical RTRS application.
  43.  
  44. 4. The "RTRS Data Control" is a DOS/Windows suite of applications for
  45. the tariff analysts who control the data on which pricing is based.

  47. "TeleRate(tm) Rating" and "RTRS Data Control" components are used in our
  48. "Operator Reference Data Base" product and act as servers when more than
  49. one application which use them is running.
